A gentle guitar track, with marvelous string section (see credits!).
In this I am basically going through our footballing rivals' towns and saying how we're better! But it also is chronicling the annoying habit we have of going up and down and up and down from the top league to the second and back.
For those of you not well versed in football, (or soccer!) UEFA is the Union of European Football Associations. Each year certain teams, through their results in various league or cup campaigns, go into European league or cup competitions.
At the time of the album Dundee were very close to attaining a place in one of their tournaments.
I always thought I should re-work this song to make it just about Dundee-The City, but never quite got round to it.

lyrics
Oh don’t send me down
towards Edinb’rugh town,
that’s a place - I’ve already been.
I don’t belong, you know,
to the streets of Glasgow
or the north lights of old Aberdeen.
And the city of Perth,
I am sure, has some worth
but it’s further than I want to be.
Motherwell makes you smile,
Killie’s fine for a while,
but it’s better back home in Dundee.
(chorus)
For it’s my Dundee…
It’s my Dundee…
It’s my Dundee…
Dundee F.C.
Now we had some bad luck,
we seemed to get stuck
in a place that is called soccer hell.
Up from division one,
then back down we would come,
from that most elusive S.P.L.
But we all made our choice.
We’ll lift up our voice
and be there if we lose or we win
and if fortune is kind…
then maybe we’ll find…
that U.E.F.A. might just let us in!
(chorus)
Still our time came round,
and now we have found
we can stand face to face with the best.
Saints, Dons, Motherwell fell…
and United as well
and the auld firm were put to the test.
So if you find your way
to this place near the Tay,
they’re the sight that you really should to see.
Come along for the ride,
there’s nowhere to hide
as we follow; the boys from Dundee…..
(chorus x2 to end)
